There are various reasons for this decision, some of which have been articulated online and some others that have been shared privately. But a lot of this has to do with the fact that he's been doing this weekly podcast for 4.5 years and he's ready to do other things. He shared this with some of his Patreon supporters yesterday:
I'll be producing five more episodes after today, with the first episode in September being my last. It's been a blast and I'm hoping to go out on a high note instead of stumbling or fading out of existence with irregular episodes. I'll talk more about it, and answer questions, in the remaining episodes.I will be sad to see Riverdale Podcast's end, but I completely understand Jonathan's decision.
