I was checking out some of my recent comic book purchases and realized that I hadn't read ARCHIE COMICS DOUBLE DIGEST #262, which was published sometime earlier this summer. This is a great comic book digest, filled with classic reprints featuring Archie, Little Archie, and Wilbur. But there's also a great brand-new short story featuring the artwork of Bob Bolling!
Bob Bolling is one of my all-time favorite "old school" Archie Comics artists -- second only to Harry Lucey. I love his work on Little Archie. He had pretty much disappeared from the company outside of classic reprints, but recently he has done a few new stories within the digests. And I couldn't be happier!
"Beach of Burden" teams Bob Bolling up with writer Tom DeFalco, inker Jim Amash, letterer Jack Morelli, and colorist Digikore Studios.
Here's the story: Veronica wants to relax by the water, but her parents won't let her use the family's pool. So she and Archie go to the beach and spend the entire story looking for the perfect spot. Except that nothing is good enough for Veronica! There are either too many noisy kids or it's too crowded or too sparse or too many pretty girls! It makes you wonder if Veronica could ever be satisfied!
The problem is that Archie is saddled with all of her props -- and they're very heavy!!! Which will collapse first? Veronica's quest for the perfect beach-space or Archie himself? You will need to pick up your own copy of ARCHIE COMICS DOUBLE DIGEST #262 to find out that answer!
